Hello and welcome! I developed this site as a part of my
my dissertation, The effects of utilizing the Common Core Mathematical Practices in the Algebra I classroom, which I successfully defended on February 3, 2014.
The purpose of my research was to investigate whether or not teachers who utilize a specific instructional tool and receive focused professional development yield better test scores for their students when compared with those who do not. This study included Algebra I teachers from across Western Pennsylvania.
As a former mathematics teacher and former supervisor of mathematics teachers, I am constantly striving to find tools or strategies that teachers can use in the classroom to best support students and their development of critical thinking skills.
We are in the midst of a very exciting time in the field of education and I am grateful and excited to share this journey with you! I hope that you find this site and the resources valuable!
